After reaching the house Ram touched the statue, it broke down and Ahalya appeared. Vishwamitra had faith in Rama and wanted him to go there and touch that stone. It was said that only if a person from the Raghu clan came and touched petrified Ahalya, she could be freed from the curse. Later when Rishi Gautami came back and found out his wife was sleeping with another man he cursed his wife to turn into stone. Ahalya permitted him into her house thinking he was her husband and Indra had sex with Gautami’s wife in the absence of him. One afternoon when Rishi Gautami went out to collect woods in the forest, Devraj Indra (King of the Gods in Heaven) came to the house of Gautami and took his guise to take entry to his house. Vishwamitra told them that a sage named Gautami and his wife Ahalya lived there a long ago. Next, Vishwamitra took them to a place that seemed abandoned for many years. Following Vishwamitra’s order, Rama killed the demon Tadaka with an arrow. Vishwamitra instructed Ram to kill the demon Tadaka. One day Ram met Tadaka demon when she came to eat the animals and the innocent people in the forest. As Rishi Vishwamitra traveled, he told them the story of the Tadaka demon. Vishwamitra started the journey with them. Impressed by his words, Dasaratha sent his two sons Rama and Lakshman with Vishwamitra for their education. He was looking for students because he wanted to give all the education and powers to his worthy disciple. One day a sage named Vishwamitra came to Dasaratha, the king of Ayodhya. He taught them all the ancient Vedic texts and other literary works. All his four sons were educated by Maharishi Vashishta. Kaushalya was the king’s favorite wife, so his first son Rama became his most beloved son. They are the four sons of King Dasaratha’s three wives. The son born from Kaikeyi was named Bharat and Sumitra had two sons, one named Lakshan and the other one Shatrughna. The name of the son born from Kaushalya was Ram. And as a result, three queens became pregnant. As the yagna was over, the fruit of it was given to the three queens. Following his instructions, King Dasaratha organized the yagna. Vashishta was one of the seven sages and he was the priest of the king’s family in the Ramayana. Then Dasaratha decided to perform a yagna which was necessary for them to conceive children. Kaikeyi is second and Sumitra is his third wife. He had three wives, Kaushalya, Kaikeyi, and Sumitra. Once upon a time, there was a king named Dasaratha. This book is about his royal birth and his life journey along with his only wife Sita. Written in 300 BC, this text contains about 24,000 verses and talks about King Ram of Ayodhya. It was written by Valmiki and was considered one of the most popular epics around the world. Ramayana is one of the two ancient epics of the Hindu culture.
